The Sacred Heart School hosted its highly anticipated “Future Options Evening 2024” on Thursday, 5th December, attracting over 120 attendees eager to explore the exciting range of opportunities available after secondary school.
The event, open to Transition Year, 5th, and 6th Year students, was a resounding success, offering invaluable guidance on further education, careers, and apprenticeships. The evening was buzzing with energy as students and their families engaged with representatives from a wide variety of institutions and organisations.
With stands from leading universities and colleges, including ATU, TUS, the National University of Galway, Maynooth University, the University of Limerick, Trinity College Dublin, and TU Dublin, students had the chance to explore a wealth of academic opportunities. Religious education and training were also represented, with contributions from St. Patrick’s Maynooth.
For those considering careers in public service, the Garda Síochána and Defence Forces provided insights into their pathways. The LOETB (Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board) and Sharon Leavy Academy showcased training and vocational opportunities, while representatives highlighted a variety of apprenticeships, offering practical options for hands-on learners.
The evening was described as “a great success,” with students gaining practical advice and inspiration for their futures. One parent commented, “The range of options available tonight was incredible. It has really helped my daughter focus on their future path.”
