Educational Curriculum

Pastoral Care is an important aspect of the structure of the school as it addressed social, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical needs and also forms part of the disciplinary framework. Pastoral Care reassures all concerned that students are being educated in a caring milieu.

Pastoral Care is based upon the principles of good relationships and mutual respect.Counselling is part of the Pastoral Care process and will be of an informal nature.

Each teacher is part of the Pastoral Care system. Subject teachers have as important a role to play as those given the specific pastoral role of tutors or form teachers.

The pastoral system of the school provides that each class has a form teacher. The Form Teacher will deal with the personal concerns as well as helping colleagues with their understanding of the student.

The Year Head has responsibility for behaviour and discipline of a year group. A record is kept by each Year Head in respect of notes in the student journal etc. A Year Head meeting takes place once per week and part of its role is to review student progress in each year.

There are also a number of committees established in the school with a view to supporting the Pastoral Care system in the school.
